All-Day Singings
We hold Saturday all-day singings each year here in Cullompton, in the friendly setting of Cullompton Baptist Church. We sing from The Sacred Harp (Denson ed 1991). Notwithstanding the religious nature of the songs, and opening and closing the day with prayers in the traditional style of all-day singings, we welcome people of all religions and none to enjoy the music and company. Singers register their attendance, indicating if they wish to lead their song selections, and we keep minutes of the songs sung during the day. We pause to remember people known to us who have died in the past year and honour those who are sick and housebound. We have regular recesses for refreshments, a bring and share lunch, and pass the basket for cash contributions towards the costs of the day plus a donation to the church in recognition of their support in what we do.
