Occasional singings in Ipplepen
In 2018 and 2019 we enjoyed occasional singings in Ipplepen, between Newton Abbot and Totnes. These are taking a break at the moment, but we will announce any future events on this page.
The organisers of the Ipplepen singings have a particular love of The Shenandoah Harmony and we had great fun being led gently into its delights.
The Shenandoah Harmony was published in 2012 with the intention of creating a tunebook that included the best of the shape-note songs collected, printed and published by Ananias Davisson from 1816 to 1826 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. You can find out more about the history of the music within The Shenandoah Harmony and hear recordings from singings here.
